Endoscopic Thyroid Surgery
Minimally invasive surgery is widely used for the treatment of thyroid diseases. The AyILS team has been performing endoscopic thyroid surgeries for the past two decades.
Conditions related to the thyroid gland are more commonly seen in women. These are due to normal physiological stresses faced uniquely by women. Pubertal spurt combined with cyclical hormonal variation of the menstrual cycle maybe a contributory factor. Pregnancy, through its characteristic increased physiological demands on the body is also another known factor that predisposes women to thyroid disorders. A swelling of the thyroid gland is distressing as it presents in the neck and is cosmetically disfiguring. Conventional surgery leaves a scar in the neck which is often as distressing as the original swelling. Here too, minimal access techniques have evolved for a scarless neck surgery
The Ayushman team advanced the concept of specialized teams to exclusively practice, propagate and develop Minimal Access techniques in surgery. The Ayushman team is practicing at Max Super Speciality Hospital, Saket, New Delhi since 2009 and has set up the Max Institute of Minimal Access, Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. The institute is recognized to be a Global Center of Excellence in Endosurgery today. The Institute is equipped with state of the art operation theaters and quality equipment that contributes the best industrial practices. Surgical and Anesthesia protocols are in place so that patients reap the benefits of faster recovery, lesser post operative pain and minimal post surgical complication. The AyILS team comprising of Dr Pradeep Chowbey, Dr Rajesh Khullar, Dr Anil Sharma, Dr Vandana Soni and Dr Manish Baijal have also been awarded the accreditation of ‘Surgeons of Excellence’ by the Surgical Review Corporation, USA.
